Sainik Schools are purely meant for young children who wish to serve the Nation. Sainik when translated means ‘Soldier’; these are a system of schools in India established and managed by the Sainik Schools Society under the Ministry of Defence. They were conceived in 1961 by V. K. Krishna Menon, the then Defence Minister of India, to prepare students for entry into the National Defence Academy (NDA) and the Indian Naval Academy (INA).
Admission Process
Sainik Schools takes admission for boys and girls. The entrance examination is organized for admission to classes VI & IX. Students who are between the age of 10-12 years and 13-15 years respectively on 31st March of the year. For getting admission into class IX, boys need to be studying in class VIII in a recognized school.
